Wood carver Rick ButzRick Bütz is a woodcarver with four decades of experience. He learned the Bavarian carving style from his father and grandfather. He has authored several books on woodcarving including the classic How to Carve Wood, and magazine articles for Fine Woodworking, Woodworkers’ Journal, Wood Magazine, and others. He is the host of the popular Public Television series Woodcarving with Rick Bütz, broadcast on over 200 PBS stations nationwide.

In 2004 he was honored to be named Woodcarver of the Year by Wood Carving Illustrated Magazine. In addition to woodcarving, he provides medical care for our veterans, and spends his spare time writing novels, hiking and birdwatching in the Adirondack Mountains of Northern New York.
